Deep Freeze Circula System Treatment and Protocol

“THE CIRCULA™ SYSTEM” - WHO WILL IT BENEFIT AND HOW DOES IT WORK:

By design the Deep Freeze™ Circula™ Invigorating Hand and Foot Soak and the Deep Freeze™ Circula™ Ultra Moisturizing, Invigorating Lotion are linked together to deliver overall therapeutic benefits.

The “Circula™ System” targets arthritic conditions; rheumatism; gout; pain in the bones and joints; sore and tired feet; poor circulation in the extremities; conditioning dry skin and ultimately a soothing, relaxing result.

Following the Deep Freeze™ Circula™ Invigorating Hand and Foot Soak (soaking details can be found on the label) treatment, the hands and feet have been stimulated and the pores are open, supporting the delivery of the health benefits noted below, plus an ultramoisturizing outcome when the hands and feet are treated with Deep Freeze’s™ Circula™ Ultra Moisturizing, Invigorating Lotion. By design this is the “Circula™ System”.

Circula SystemIn addition to being a support product with the Circula™ Soak, the Deep Freeze™ Circula™ Ultra Moisturizing Lotion is a standalone product.

It has been designed to deliver multiple benefits around the “Wintergreen Oil”, the second ingredient listed and the “Sunflower Oil” and “Safflower Oil”, the third and fourth ingredients.

The “Wintergreen Oil” when rubbed on the affected area is readily absorbed through the skin. With the presence of “Menthyl Salicylate” it induces numbness and an anesthetic effect on the nerves. It also increases circulation of the blood and brings warmth to the area. In this way it fights pain.

This property means that an agent can eliminate pain and induce relaxation. Therefore, it is a combination of an analgesic and a relaxant. Wintergreen oil will eradicate pain and drive out stress and tension. This is a very pleasant way of getting a sound sleep at the end of the day, for those who often lose sleep due to pain or stress.

Wintergreen Oil’s aromatherapy helps relax and uplift your mood. It has powerful, mentally stimulating effects, that increase your attentiveness and the vibration of your body. Its strong aroma can also open, influence and elevate the awareness of your senses.

The “Sunflower Oil”, the third ingredient in Circula™ lotion, is rich in Vitamin E, which acts as an antioxidant. Vitamin E is specifically related to improving skin health and regenerating cells.

The “Safflower Oil”, the fourth ingredient in Circula™ lotion, has a high content of linoleic acid, making it ideal for boosting the quality and appearance of your skin. Furthermore, linoleic acid stimulates the regeneration of new skin cells, meaning that it helps to clear up scars and other blemishes from the surface of the skin.

TREATMENT PROTOCOL FOR SPAS THAT DO NOT HAVE SOAKING STATIONS:

1: While treating your client to a facial or massage you can offer them a “Deep Freeze™ Circula™ Hand and Foot Treatment”.

2: Create a soaking solution by taking 1oz. of Deep Freeze™ Circula™ Soaking Concentrate to 16 cups of hot water. Just adjust the amount of concentrate if you use more or less water based on this ratio.

3: Take hot towels and soak them in the “Circula™ Solution”.

4: Take the hot towels that have been soaked in the solution and wrap your client’s hands and feet with them.

5: Enclose the towels that you have wrapped on their hands and feet with a plastic bag. This enhances the activity of the treatment and keeps the treatment table dry.

6: The minimum treatment period recommended is 15-25 minutes. It is fine if the treatment lasts longer and you coordinate it with the length of the massage or facial treatment.

7: During the final stages of the “Circula™ Systems” treatment, remove the plastic bags and towels from your client’s hands and feet.

8: Take the Deep Freeze™ Circula™ Ultra-Moisturizing, Invigorating Lotion and massage the lotion into their hands and feet. The lotion will deliver its aromatherapy benefits; deeply condition your clients skin and stimulate warmth on their hands and feet, supporting and enhancing the circulation the soak created.

Whether you are a Massage Therapist or Personal Trainer, I think we are always looking for a new cutting edge product and or technique, that can help us better serve our clients, in obtaining superior results.

Deep Freeze has developed the Next Generation of topical pain relief that will take healing to new heights while introducing proactive maintenance and awareness.

Our line of products works within a synergistic and defined partnership. The unique balance focuses on injury prevention, pain management and total well-being. Deep Freeze is committed to making a difference in the wellness forum while joining forces with industry leaders and professionals as we learn from each other.

Products:

Deep Freeze™ Power In Motion™ Turbo Recovery Body Wash Gel

This synergy starts with our Deep Freeze™ Power In Motion™ Turbo Recovery Body Wash Gel which will affect the body as an interactive connected unit and provide muscular relaxation and total body cool-down.

This will complete the balance for areas of concern when paired with Deep Freeze™ Power In Motion™ Pain Relief and More Gel.

Our Cool Therapy will bring a new dimension into cryotherapy supporting your muscles and joints (From the Greek; Cryo = cold and Therapy = cure). This well balanced formula will reach a greater depth of absorption while first focusing on cooling and then encouraging micro- circulation to assist in enhanced performance and recovery.

 Treatment:

(15 Minute Shoulder Treatment)

Active Isolated Stretching (AIS) is a clinical approach to functional movement. This treatment is designed to increase Range of Motion (ROM), to decrease injuries while improving joint function and is a great add-on to your current session or treatment.

All practitioners performing AIS must practice within their scope of licensure and or certification and have experience with the stretching modality.

AIS Principles:

• The client is active; working with Reciprocal Inhibition

• Only hold stretches for 2 seconds while adding a little pressure at end of range of motion (R.O.M)

• Guide the muscle back into a relaxed state; when you stretch or contract a muscle, the blood is pushed out. The newblood and oxygen only comes back in when the muscle is in a relaxed/neutral state.

• Repeat the stretches 8-10 times

The practitioner’s responsibility:

• Assist the client in moving their shoulder if needed

• Maintain proper angles

As we look at the sport of tennis, it has many connected movements that will vary depending on the level of play which can produce multiple imbalances resulting in a great number of muscular conditions or concerns.

This treatment is designed to specifically demonstrate shoulder stretches to increase range of motion (ROM) for superior flexibility and enhanced function.

Supporting Deep Freeze’s commitment to assist in preventative awareness, we have included stretches your clients can participate in, supported by Deep Freeze’s line of products.

In order to enjoy the sport of your choice and maintain a high level of performance, you must be proactive and conscious of your body-mechanics.

• DEEP FREEZE™ Turbo Recovery Body Wash

We recommend the use of Turbo Recovery Body Wash pre-warm up which will provide 2 separate sensations; the first phase is a cooling sensation followed by increased circulation awakening muscle tissue for physical activity.

DEEP FREEZE™ Cool Therapy Pain Relief Gel

It is recommended to use a small amount of the Pain Relief Gel and apply it to the areas of concern. Within a few minutes, the active ingredients penetrate the tissue assisting in its healing process.

You will find the following Stretches demonstrated in a seated or reclined position to suit your work environment.

Deep Freeze Cellulite Treatment Protocol

download PDF
Firms tightens and tones the skin. Reduces the appearance of cellulite, increases skin elasticity by firming connective tissues, increases circulation. Ideal for detoxifying the skin and smoothing out dimpled, rippled areas. Re-strengthening the connective tissue.

Treatment:

Step 1: Cleanse the entire body using DMK Hydra Louff

Step 2: Measure the areas being treatment with a measuring tape held tight to the skin. Make a black mark with a Marking Pen on each side of the tape to indicate where the measurement is to be taken after the treatment. Place a hot towel over the area being treated for about one minute.

Step 3: Spray a fine mist of DMK Dermatox over entire body leave on for 3-5 mins then wipe off.

Step 4: Apply a thin layer of Deep Freeze Cool Therapy Pain Relieving Cooling Gel or Roll On to the area being treated and wait 3 to 5 minutes. Leave On Do Not wipe off.

Step 5: Place a hot towel over the area being treated for about one minute.

Step 6: Apply a thin layer of Danne Body Sculpting creme evenly over the entire area. Do not massage the creme into the skin. CAUTION: Never wrap the breasts of any client. The Danne Body Sculpting treatment can break down the fatty tissue in the breasts. Never use Body Sculpting on diabetics or pregnant women.

Step 7: If wrapping the mid-portion of the body, start wrapping plastic cling wrap around the area, starting at the rib cage, making the first layer snug. Additional layers can be pulled tighter but do not cut off circulation. Continue wrapping three or four times each area, working down to the hips.

- If this is a “waistline” treatment and you may stop here. Wrap the plastic back up the body and then cross it over the left shoulder and down the back. Wrap one more time and bring it up over the back, across the opposite shoulder and down between the breasts. Wrap one more time around the waist and cut the plastic off from the roll. Lay the client down so the bottom of the wrap does not roll up. The criss- cross plastic over the shoulders and between the breasts will prevent the plastic from rolling down.
- If you are working on the entire body, start with a waistline treatment wrap and continue wrapping down over the hips, around the buttocks and down the legs. The arms may be wrapped separately. Apply Body Sculpting Creme to the entire body before wrapping. Always wrap the client while they are standing up. Then lay them down.

Step 8: Leave film on for 30-45 minutes.

Step 9: After the time has elapsed, cut the plastic from the body using snub-nosed bandage scissors. Massage any creme still visible on the skin into the tissues.

*Advise client that the crème should be left on for at least 8 to 12 hours.
*Treatment can be performed one to two times a week.

This stone treatment utilizes sound massage techniques with grounding earth based awareness. This is combined with next generation natural pain relief products providing a cohesive blend of old and new. Your clients will feel the use of warm and cool stones and be amazed by the depth of the treatment when combined with Deep Freeze’s product line. Their body will embrace a deeper sensation of balance and a renewed awareness supported by hydrotherapy principles.

    Product:

    Stone Supplies:

    Stone Heater
    Basalt Stones (warm)
    Marble Stones (cool)
    Cooler with Ice
    Wooden Spoon
    Bowl for Cool Water
    Massage Oil
    Thermometer

    Treatment Protocol:

This protocol is for those massage therapists who are currently using hot and cold stones with deep tissue application. Safety in working with hot/warm stones should be a top priority for all Massage Therapists and spas.

    Hot/Warm Stones:

Heat should always be introduced starting with warm and building gradually as the client gets adjusted to the temperature change. Applying heat gradually will be a significant factor in your client being confident with your skill level therefore producing superior results. It is important to keep in mind that the warmer the stone, the firmer and faster the pace must be. The pace should slow down once the temperature dissipates.

    Cold/Cool Stones:

Cool Stones are the most important temperature you work with because it produces the greatest change. When cool stones are applied to the body, the pace should be slow and firm. Working with cooler temperatures is not about your client being cold; it is about receiving a cool application. In addition, it must be managed in a way to respect your client’s hesitation or apprehension to this profound experience. For those clients that are accepting but apprehensive, the stone should not be too cold and working on areas such as the neck and the arms will help build up their trust.

Cool application is essential in balancing with the use of warm stones, and the cool stones always follow the heat. When you are working with hydrotherapy and varying temperatures, please work within your abilities and respect the tolerance of your clients.

Preparation for the treatment will begin in the changing/locker-room.
Deep Freeze™ Turbo Recovery Body Wash will be offered to the client to be used as they shower before being met by their therapist.

Clients should be informed to avoid contact with eyes mucous membranes and open wounds and sensitive areas when using Deep Freeze™ Turbo Recovery Body Wash: (Keep out of reach of children.)
We would suggest this 8.4 oz product to be included in the service cost and used for home care by your client. Turbo Recovery is used in the shower and left on the body for 3 to 5 minutes before rinsing off. This product will assist in muscle recovery and increase circulation to ischemic tissues. Your client will feel the tingling healing effect as they are waiting for you to come and great them.

    Consultation:

Use intake form and pay special attention to medications and soft tissue injuries. Ask your client if they ever received a stone treatment before and if cool stones were used. Let them know that they are in control of the session at all times and that their feedback is important. Explain the benefits of using both warm and cool stones and how the topical products being used will enhance the end result.
As you enter the treatment room with your client, your warm stones will be at a working temperature and a cooler with marble stones will be ready for use. You will also have massage oil and Deep Freeze™ Cool Therapy Pain Relieving Gel at your station. By this point, you should have your client’s history and know the areas of concentration.
Your client will be on the table in a prone position and you will start on their back. You will first apply the Deep Freeze™ Cool Therapy Gel to places of concentration and rub in until absorbed.
We will be working the back in quadrants; lower back and upper back on the same side then repeat the pattern on the other side. 3 to 4 stones will be used in each quadrant.
Before working with the stone, apply a small amount of oil on the entire back. Now choose the appropriate size stone based on your client size and the size of your hand. You will be working with one stone at a time.
Apply just enough oil with your hands so the stone will glide without creating unnecessary friction. Too much oil will compromise your own ability to change your body mechanics. When more oil is required, add a few drops to the stone you are working with and turn the stone in your hands then apply the excess oil from your hands in the area you are working on.
Be aware that applying heat should be gradual; start with warm stones and increase as the client gets adjusted to the heat considering that each client’s tolerance to heat will be different. As a stone loses its temperature, you will want to transition that stone to your client’s hand while it is still warm. This will give your client the feeling of being connected to the treatment even when you step away from the table.
Being that you will be using more than 2 stones in each quadrant of the back, you will have to exchange the stone from the client’s hand, putting it back into the heater.
This will be repeated with each quadrant of the back. You might end up spending 25 minutes on the back, so be conscious of time management.
Once you have completed the application of warm/hot stones on the back, you will follow up with the introduction of cool stones. During this segment, you will be working with two stones at the same time and doing two applications. You will most likely be using medium size round marble stones so you will be taking out two pairs.
Ask your client to take a deep breath; you will first apply the stones to the upper back during your client’s exhale. The upper back receives cooler temperatures much better than the lower back so you will take out most of the coolness out of the stones above the inferior angle of the scapulars.
When you first apply the cool stones, press them firmly into the upper back and do not move them until the client gets adjusted to the temperature change. Then you will move the stones firm and slow not passing the inferior angle of the scapulars. Several passes may be necessary before moving down the back. As the stones start to lose their temperature, you may proceed down to the lower back with the pressure still being firm and slow. When the stones are close to being neutral in temperature, you will place them in your client’s hands and repeat the same process with the second pair. When the cool stone passes are completed, you will drape the back and do some gentle rocking and compression before moving on to the posterior leg.
At this time, apply the Deep Freeze™ Cool Therapy Gel to enhance the hydrotherapy experience. You will be using 3 large to medium size warm round stones adding the appropriate amount of oil (maybe a brand name). You will be using two stones for the gluteus muscle and hamstrings and one stone for the calf and planter surface of the foot. When working on the leg, you want to work the lateral side first, starting at the hip. The lateral side of the leg receives heat more comfortably than the medial side.
After you have completed working with the warm stones, you will use one large cool stone to finish with that leg. When applying the cool stone, press firmly into the lateral side of the upper leg and do not move until the client is adjusted to the temperature change. Then repeat on second leg.

    Have the client turn to a supine position;

    Stone placements; (optional)

We will start off with two stone placements; the thickest oblong stone will be wrapped up in several layers of a pillow case and placed just below the occipital ridge. The second stone will be your largest placements stone and positioned just below the rib cage. When placing stones on the body, it is imperative that proper precautions are taken to ensure that the client does not receive too much heat. A towel barrier should be placed between the client and the stone when being placed on the torso.
The protocol for the anterior leg is the same as posterior as far as the stone application is concerned with both warm and cool stones and product application.
You will be starting with two medium round stones for the quadriceps and one small for the lower leg. We will not be using stones on the dorsal surface of the foot.
Application on the arms will be next; you will be working with two medium or small round stones starting on the shoulder and pectoral region and working your way down to the hands. When you have completed working with two stones, you will apply one cool stone to close off working on that arm. (Repeat on the other arm)
You will be closing out the session working on the neck (you can use Deep Freeze™ Cool Therapy Gel on the neck but make sure you keep it away from the face and eyes by removing any residue from your hands). You will take out four oblong or trigger point stones which will be wrapped in a towel placed on the floor by your stool. You will also place the cooler with marble stones in it on the other side of the stool. You then remove the warm stone from the occipital ridge.
When applying oil to the neck you will apply some to the shoulders as well. This will provide an appropriate place to dissipate heat from warm stones if needed. You will want to work with the thinner stones first; they will lose heat faster. Work with two stones on one side of the neck then repeat on the other side. You will now stretch the neck.
The final stone application will be done with two medium round cool stones. You will initiate contact with the stones at the occipital ridge during the exhale of your client. You will work the same points and areas that you worked on with the warm stones.
To close off a session, you will be doing a scalp massage and finish with acupressure points on the face. (When doing a face massage, make sure you do not have any Deep Freeze™ Cool Therapy Gel on your hands)

    Deep Tissue Treatment

There seems to be a common thread to all basic Deep Tissue treatments; for the majority of clients that do not have a specific problem; they will say something about tension in their back whether it is lower or upper or both. With the addiction of the Deep Freeze™ Cool Therapy products into your treatment, you will have the opportunity to improve your results. The unique ingredients in the Deep Freeze™ Cool Therapy line will offer a therapeutic enhancement as well as a preventive foundation.

DEEP FREEZE™ Cool Therapy Pain Relieving Gel
You will take a small amount of the Pain Relief Gel and apply it to the affected shoulder. It will only take a few minutes for the active ingredients to penetrate the tissue to assist its healing process.

    Treatment:

    - Starting with you client prone (face down), apply a small amount of the Pain Relieving Gel to areas of concern. Allow the product to penetrate into the tissue for 3 to 5 minutes, then go back to proceed with your treatment using your choice of deep tissue strokes.
    - You will now be applying the lubricant of your choice. Whether you use oil, cream, lotion or gel, be mindful of not over using product. The over use of product can compromise your body mechanics and could produce work related injuries.
    - We suggest working on the legs or places of lesser concern during those first few minutes.
    - Your client will have the sensation of deeper circulation because of an enhancing neuro-receptor response.
    - Once your client turned to a supine position, we suggest applying the Deep Freeze™ Cool Therapy Gel to primary joints to reinforce healthy joint movement.
    - We suggest applying Deep Freeze™ Cool Therapy Pain Relieving Gel on the neck, shoulders, hips and knee. Then proceed with the rest of your treatment. If your treatment includes massaging the face, make sure your hands are clean from the Pain Relieving Gel.
